The Lighthouse Restaurant celebrated it's 50th Anniversary on Friday, August 13, 2004.
Opened by George and Mary Pappas in 1954 on the corner of Burke and Brookstown. The restaurant had only 39 seats.
Alex Fragakis bought the Lighthouse from the Pappas's in the late 1950's.
In 1961, Nick Doumas started working and became Alex's partner.
In 1966, Nick's brother Louis Doumas, came from Greece and started working for Nick and Alex. Later, the brothers bought the restaurant and have owned it since.
On October 17, 1983, the restaurant moved across the street to its present location. Nick and Louis built the new building which now has 115 seats.
Charles Watson (the Lighthouse Chef) started working here in 1959and is still cooking here today!
William Hardy (short order cook) started in 1978 and is still here!
Mark Tamer (another valuable employee), has missed only one day of work since he began working here in 1980!
Joe Doumas (Nick's son) and Harold Doumas (Louis' son) currently manage the business.
Louis opens every morning and Nick still helps out when needed.
